FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What is ultimate frisbee?
A: Ultimate frisbee is a competitive non-contact sport that was invented in 1968 and is similar to football and other field sports. Games are held between two teams, each with seven players on the field at a time, whose goal it is to score by receiving a pass of a disc in an endzone. Players must pass the disc between each other down the field, but a player is not allowed to move once the disc is in their possession and must instead set a pivot foot. For more information, visit the USA Ultimate homepage to find a full description and official rules.
Q: Do I need experience to join Rogue?
A: No! We welcome players of all levels of experience, and there is always room for everyone on our team. If you have played other sports before, especially sports like soccer, lacrosse, or basketball, your skills will translate over well. However, we would love to have you join our team regardless of your previous experience! We teach basic fundamentals such as throwing and cutting all throughout fall quarter and run consistent workouts to get in shape.
Q: What is the time commitment?
A: The commitment to Rogue is similar to any other competitive sport. Both A and B teams practice every Monday and Wednesday from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Additionally, A team has Saturday practices from 9 am to 12 pm and weekly track workouts. For both teams, consistent attendance is expected. Both teams have tournaments on weekends, especially in winter quarter. See Tournament Calendar for details.
